Can I have two males or two females as Godparents?

  • Catholic Church Canon Law (Can. 873) states that "There is to be only one male sponsor or one female sponsor or one of each."  This means that there only needs to be one Godparent.  But, if two are desired, one must be male and the other must be female.  Godparents should be Confirmed Catholics and in good standing in the Catholic faith.

Can I choose any music I would like for my wedding?

  • This is a "yes" and "no" question.  While you do have much say in the music you choose for your wedding, there are some guidelines.  The music you choose should be about God, Jesus, Mary, and/or the Eucharist.  Sacred music is always preferred.  Prelude and Postlude music can be chosen that does not involve the assembly to join in singing.  However, during the wedding Mass, music should be chosen that is from the hymnal or missalette so the assembly can participate more fully.  Recorded music is discouraged and generally not acceptable and in almost all cases, not allowed.
